It requires users to think hard on their own, resist the temptation of copying and pasting, and basically write their own resume. I’m not sure it will make resume writing easier for anyone who does it right. Perhaps it will provide some valuable research, but beyond that, I’m not clear on its usefulness. Is Resume Assistant Evil? One of the most vocal opponents of Resume Assistant is Donna Serdula, who claims LinkedIn is committing “Profile Plagiarism.” I don’t know about that. Certainly a diligent person can do their own search for people with their position title, and model their profile or resume off someone else’s. My understanding is that what Resume Assistant does is crunch numbers so you get a more accurate picture of what skills are the most important to include in your profile. It seems to me that Resume Assistant is streamlining a process, not committing plagiarism. What is disturbing to me, and to Donna, is that LinkedIn and Microsoft have failed to inform LinkedIn members that Resume Assistant will pull information from your profile unless you opt out. Even if all the information is from your public profile and your name is not attached to it, making people’s profiles automatically available for scanning is a bit sneaky, if you ask me. Here’s how to opt out of the Resume Assistant so your information is kept out of people’s hands who are using the program. Note that if your profile is public, resourceful folks could still find your profile and “flatter” you with imitation. Click on your profile image thumbnail in the upper right corner. From the drop-down menu, select Settings Privacy. On the Privacy tab, scroll down to Data privacy and advertising, and under Microsoft Word, flip the switch to No. Or,  follow this link. I’m choosing for now to keep my information public and available to Resume Assistant. At least I know I’ll be contributing quality material to those who need it. How Does Resume Assistant Really Work? Unfortunately, at this time, I am not able to tell you exactly how Resume Assistant works. I had to go to Microsoft’s article, Write your best resume in Word with help from LinkedIn in Resume Assistant, to figure out that it’s supposed to show up under my Review tab in Microsoft Word. The Philippines does not need a perfect Machiavellian leader in the present. I believe a great leader would be opposite of that of a Machiavellian leader. I also believe that a prominent leader would have good morals and ideal principles. A Machiavellian leader could care less about his/her citizens, since his only two options when governing states are either benevolence or destruction. He/She only cares about his/her state, which is ill-advised, since a leader cannot lead without the people’s approval or acceptance. Turning these offers down, she always insists that she is happy where she is, and this further shows that she is a woman of principle and character. This has not only encourages me to be of integrity but also makes me see how it is a good thing to employ the principle of integrity through and through. All my school life, I have found myself excelling because I have been engaging my teachers and other stakeholders with intellectual questions. For I have developed a tendency of reading two to three chapters ahead of what the teacher is covering and on top of that reading widely, I have benefited much for I have been able to understand some of the connectedness of various aspect of what we cover in class and what happens in reality. It has been fairly easy for me to put into practical the theoretical parts of course work. This has further enabled me to understand the world better and how to make it better for other people and the generations to come. Problem solving, honesty, integrity, intellectual curiosity to mention but a few, are some of the traits that have contributed greatly in enabling me to establish an advertising company while still in school. I have been able to run this company and it broke even a while ago and I am making good money not to mention three employees I have employed permanently and many others on contract. As a member of the incoming business class, I feel encouraged to add some value to my course mates and the entire school community. In doing so, I will try to help any student with a problem, I come across though it will be a tall order; I will try my level best. In the same vein, I will encourage them to work as a team, because a problem shared is a problem half solved. Honesty and integrity are two intertwined aspects and it will be up to me to show the students that one does not need to wait until after school to become a person of integrity; rather the earlier the better. I will invite them to see the progress of my business whereby I will explain to them that it’s through honesty and integrity that I have taken the business that far. Concerning intellectual curiosity, I will continue engaging my teachers in constructive discussions and I am hoping that, those students who shy away from asking questions, will get both the clarification and the courage to ask questions. I will also lead other students to read widely and to relate what is learnt in classroom to what take place in the real world. The leader is at the forefront in creating good working relationships where each individual or stakeholder who contributes to the success of the program understands his or her role in the organization (Birasnav, Rangnekar, Dalpati, 2011). He or she actively works towards the success of the given role and in overall, the success of the organization. Such leadership is based on the goal of achieving high motivation levels of followers, as well as matching the goals of the organization or project with the individual goals of motivation and satisfaction in the workplace. Based on this approach, the leadership focuses on encouraging followers towards a level of interaction where their activities in the organization will lead to self-gratification and satisfaction. The ability to achieve such an interaction between the organization’s goals and the individual aims of satisfaction and purpose for the employees allows followers to get inspiration from the leadership and to work towards the successful completion of the tasks, not just for the success of the organization, but also for the employees or follower satisfaction. On the other hand, Galford and Maruca (2006) discuss their approaches to leadership using different approaches that are centered on building a legacy leadership. In the book, chapter three discusses the role and importance of natural traits and roles of a leader. These traits and roles can be viewed as focusing on the types of leadership that DuBrin (2015) discusses in his book. The natural roles and traits of a leade r are important since they are a clear indication that leadership is not for everyone and that some people are better positioned to lead in relation to others. Above all, the most important trait in leaders is the ability to create and maintain good working relationships with mutual respect, which can be viewed as the charisma that is put forward in Galford and Maruca’s writing. However, the most important and most influential determinant of leadership legacy is the ability to inspire and increase employee motivation in the workplace (Birasnav et al., 2011). Such inspiration via incentives will be closely tied to their satisfaction at the workplace. Such leadership is focused on improving employees’ outlook concerning their tasks and life while at the same time ensuring that they have the right motivation and skills to effectively deliver on their respective roles in the organization. By tying job satisfaction to job delivery, a leader stands a chance to create a lasti ng impact on employees, especially at a time when many organizations are complaining about the lack of interest and the increasing disengagement of employees. These two elements are indicators of low motivation and discontent of the roles and the responsibilities of the employees and the actual roles that they undertake. Such leadership can be viewed as charismatic or transformational. It goes beyond the boundaries of the organization. Consequently, it ensures that the leader is an inspiration and a positive influence on the followers at all levels.  DuBrin (2015) discusses what he refers to as entrepreneurial leadership as an important leadership style and trait that a good leadership should uphold. In this case, it is worth noting that leadership is about creating value for the organization and the stakeholders. This goal is achieved through the profits that an organization makes out of its business, thanks to the dedicated human resources. By thinking as an entrepreneur, the le ader can devise ways of eliminating or reducing any unnecessary costs while at the same time maximizing profits through many activities such as venturing into new markets, increasing customer satisfaction, or through new ventures that provide new income streams. On the other hand, Galford and Maruca (2006) cover this quality or approach to leadership in the segment ‘The Creative Builder’.
